Parking is at the top of a steep gravel hill. Guests must walk down to the cottage. It is two steps to enter, but all one level once inside. Guests can access the lake using seven steps at the dock, or walk along gently sloping rocks.
The property hosts two main trails:
The Point Trail takes a leisurely stroll along the bay and out to a small peninsula equipped with a fire pit, picnic table and Adirondack chairs.
The Deer Trail moves through large rock deposits, a clear evergreen wood, and exposes a lovely array of native plants. The local deer come by to feast and rest by the thick carpet of lichen and mosses.
A 19′ canoe and two open K-1 kayaks are available to paddle to McKellar, or South into the expanse of Lake Manitouwabing. The lake hosts many species of fish, water fowl, and turtles. We sometimes get to see the otters playing in the waters as well!
